It’s in our human nature to take the path of least resistance. That path is filled with comfort, security, certainty, effortlessness, status quo, and the list goes on. Travel down this path long enough and you’ll begin to develop a fixed mindset. You’ll avoid life’s challenges and dismiss any feedback that’s extended to you. Your desires might even fade over time because they’re too difficult to achieve. The most unfortunate characteristic about maintaining a fixed mindset is the restrictor you place on your self-worth. The truth is a lot of us operate at less than 50% of our true potential, never realizing how much we have to offer because adversity or the thought of being uncomfortable is not ideal. Stop listening to that voice inside your head encouraging you to stay on easy street. Embrace some discomfort for a change and find out what you’re capable of. This is called a growth mindset. A place that fosters discipline and resiliency. With a growth mindset, you’ll take on tasks that most avoid and build new skills in the process. You’ll begin to view criticism as a must and the challenge as just part of the journey. Understand, there is an abundance of untapped potential within you and at least for me playing it safe never rewarded me with anything!
